My name is Doug. I grew up collecting sports cards and Pokémon — ripping packs with friends, trading at school, chasing the cards of the players I loved. Like a lot of collectors, life got in the way and I stepped away from the hobby for a while.
When I came back, I found a hobby I barely recognized. Live breaks on Whatnot and TikTok had taken over — fast-talking hosts, auction pressure, FOMO pricing, slots going for $40, $60, $100 a pop with no guarantee you'd get anything worth the entry. The excitement was still there, but so was something that didn't sit right with me: a lot of people were making a lot of money off collectors who just wanted to be part of something.
That's where For the Hobby Rips came from. The name says it all — this is for the hobby, not for the hustle. I wanted to build something that combined the genuine excitement of cracking packs with the consistency and community that live breaking never quite delivers.
Flat monthly price. Your slot locked in. Every card from your team or player coming straight to you — not just the hits. No auctions. No pressure. No one talking you into anything at 11pm on a Tuesday.
Just the hobby, the way it should feel.
